ShynDorca - A Full-Stack E-commerce & Branding Initiative

This project demonstrates end-to-end product development, from conceptualization and branding to full-stack implementation and digital marketing. I single-handedly built and launched ShynDorca, an e-commerce platform for a startup retail business in Ghana, showcasing a comprehensive skill set in software engineering, brand development, and user experience design.

Project Overview

ShynDorca is a bespoke e-commerce platform I developed to enable a local retail business to effectively sell a variety of products, including perfumes and clothing, in the Ghanaian market. The primary objective was to create a seamless and intuitive online shopping experience tailored to local consumer behavior, while also building a strong brand identity from the ground up. I was responsible for all technical and creative aspects of the project, from initial concept to final deployment and ongoing management. 


Technical Implementation & Key Achievements

  • Full-Stack Development: I engineered the entire platform, initially building a prototype with Prestashop before migrating to a more robust and customized solution using the Laravel PHP framework for the backend and Vue.js for a reactive and modern frontend. This stack was chosen for its scalability, security, and the ability to create a highly tailored user experience. The application was deployed on a Linux server running Apache.
  • Simplified E-commerce Workflow: Recognizing the unique challenges of e-commerce in Ghana, I designed and implemented a simplified checkout process to minimize friction and boost conversions. Instead of a complex online payment gateway integration, the system cleverly forwards a customer's order details via an automated, pre-filled WhatsApp message. This allows for direct engagement with the customer to finalize payment and shipping, a model that builds trust and aligns with local purchasing habits.
  • Custom Backend for Easy Management: To empower the non-technical end-user (my wife), I developed a user-friendly backend interface. This custom content management system allows for effortless product uploads, inventory management, and order tracking, significantly reducing the administrative overhead of running the online store.
  • Brand & Content Creation: Beyond the code, I was instrumental in building the ShynDorca brand. This included:
    • Designing a professional and memorable logo.
    • Establishing and managing the brand's presence across various social media platforms.
    • Producing engaging, branded video and image content to showcase products and drive engagement.
  • Digital Marketing & Growth: I conceived and executed targeted advertisement campaigns to build brand awareness and drive traffic to the e-commerce site. This involved analyzing market trends and tailoring promotional content to the target audience.
